PLOTTERS

    It is a graphic device which can produce a hard copy output with the use of pens. It can draw copy graphics output in the form of maps, bar charts, engineering drawings, even two dimentional illustrations.

TWO BASIC TYPES

    DRUM PLOTTER is a device where the pens and the papers move concurrently in different axes to produce the image; use to produce continous output. It is capable of a mechanical resolution of 0.0005; that is the output in accurate to within five ten-thousandths of an inch.

    FLATBED PLOTTERS where the pens move in both axes while the paper remains stationary. It can draw the image on paper or directly on blank acetate for representation.

SOME FUNCTIONS OF PEN PLOTTERS

* Plotting earthquake activity.

* Plotting long graphic output; such as the tsructural view of the skycraper.
